Electrical Designer Co-op|Mining & Metals

Our Mining Division in Eastern Canada is growing, and we are currently recruiting for a Electrical Designer co-op to join our team in the Burlington office. This will be a fall term co-op.

About the role:

  • Provides basic drawings and design suggestions under the guidance of a more senior designer or engineer. 
  • Complies with Ausenco or Client specific drawing specifications and Document Control procedures. 
  • Involved in the preparation of drawings and utilization of CAD aided design software for the creation of Electrical design of single line diagrams, motor schematics and wiring, General Arrangement , distribution panels, grounding, lighting, and cable tray. 
  • Involved in the preparation of drawings and utilization of CAD aided design software for the creation of Instrumentation and Controls design of Loop drawings, PLC and DCS wiring, Panel layout and instrument General Arrangement. 
  • Backdrafts redlines from check prints and markups as directed by the Electrical Engineer/Technologist. 
  • Creates drawings based on sketches, templates or previous designs. 
  • Performs routine material take offs (MTO). 
  • Working knowledge and good understanding of Electrical Code and Standards such OESC, CEC, CSA and IEEE. 
  • Participation in basic electrical studies such as short circuit, relay coordination and arc flash using ETAP or similar software. 
  • Responsible to perform cable sizing, cable tray sizing, conduit sizing calculations. 
  • Perform construction inspections for general compliance to drawings.

 

About you:

  • 0 to 3 years’ experience in a consulting engineering firm preferred.  
  • Technical diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in Electrical Design/Drafting. 
  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D and AutoPlant 3D.  
  • Experience with Microsoft Office is a must. 
  • Experience with ETAP or power any similar power analysis software. 
  • Experience with construction sites, ability to perform site inspection and work closely with Contractor during construction. 
  • Written and oral communication skills. 
  • Commitment and enthusiasm for learning.  
  • Able to work and communicate in a team environment.

Salary range: $24-$25/hr
