Our team in Brazil is growing, and we are currently recruiting for an Intermediate Estimating Engineer to join our Minerals & Metals Business Line in the Belo Horizonte office.

About the role:

As an Estimating Engineer, you will play a key role in developing capital cost estimates and supporting project decisions throughout different stages of project development. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to the delivery of reliable, competitive, and value-driven project estimates.

  • Prepare and develop CAPEX and Sustaining Capital estimates across different stages of project development.
  • Review engineering documentation, quantities, scopes, and assumptions to support estimate development and cost strategies.
  • Develop and analyze unit rate build-ups considering labor, equipment, materials, productivity, and associated resources.
  • Manage quotation processes and support techno-commercial evaluations, including bid leveling and price comparisons.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, engineering, procurement, and project teams to gather information and improve estimate accuracy.
  • Identify cost risks, opportunities, deviations, and key project drivers, contributing to cost optimization initiatives.
  • Support the development of benchmarks, comparative analyses, and cost indicators to assist project decision-making.
  • Participate in estimate reviews and multidisciplinary discussions, providing cost and constructability insights throughout project development.

About you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Around 5+ years of experience in cost estimating, project controls, project engineering, or a similar role within capital projects.
  • Experience developing CAPEX estimates and cost analyses for industrial, mining, metals, infrastructure, or related projects.
  • Familiarity with unit rate build-ups, indirect costs, contractor pricing, and project cost management principles.
  • Knowledge of project development methodologies such as FEL (Front-End Loading) or similar frameworks is desirable.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Intermediate to advanced English skills would be considered an asset.
