Our team is growing, we are currently recruiting for a Junior Project Engineer to join our team in our Newcastle office, an immediate start is available

 

 About the role 

  • Entry‑level to early‑career role perfect for someone who is looking to build strong project engineering foundations while supporting the delivery of multidisciplinary engineering projects
  • Working under the guidance of a Senior Project Engineer, support the delivery of office or onsite project activities to ensure work is completed on time, within budget, and aligned with Ausenco’s project objectives.
  • Assist with project coordination, documentation, performance tracking, and development of engineering deliverables
  • Support the preparation and distribution of meeting minutes, action lists, and follow‑ups.
  • Help maintain project communication logs, decision records, and other coordination documents
  • Work collaboratively with engineers and technical personnel to complete assigned tasks within the defined scope.
  • Contribute to managing work in line with the project schedule and allocated budgets.
  • Assist with the preparation of weekly and monthly internal and client reports.
  • Update and maintain deliverable lists under direction from the Senior Project Engineer
  • Assist in identifying scope changes or emerging trends relating to quantity, cost, or time, and support the project team in managing the change process.
  • Support the development of work package documentation, including scope definition, deliverable lists, and interface identification
  • Support procurement and market engagement activities as required
  • Maintain professional and effective communication with internal team members and client personnel.

 

About you 

  • Engineering degree from a recognised tertiary institution (or working towards completion, depending on level).
  • Up to 3 years’ experience in mining and minerals studies and/or projects (including internships or graduate rotations) is desirable.
  • Interest or basic understanding of process plants and mining projects (operations or construction exposure is desirable).
  • Foundational knowledge of project scheduling, planning, cost control, estimating and reporting, with a willingness to develop these skills further.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving capability, with a proactive approach to learning and contributing to project outcomes.
