Our Mining Division in Eastern Canada is growing, and we are currently recruiting for a Lead Instrumentation &Control Engineer to join our team in the Burlington or Toronto office.

About the Role

  • Cooperate with Process Engineers, Mechanical Engineers and other disciplines
  • Lead and provide preliminary and detailed instrumentation and control design for plant control systems, instrumentation and communications. Assist in the preparation and updating of P&IDs.
  • Define system functional and performance requirements, control algorithms, and communication protocols.
  • Design control logic and wiring arrangements, control parameters, setpoints, instrument ranges and environmental qualification and seismic qualification.
  • Provide sizing and selection for various types of I&C components, and produce component related documentation including assessment documents, setpoint calculations, error analyses, technical specifications, etc.
  • Produce deliverables such as network block diagram, schematic diagram, loop and IO drawings, instrument and signal list, general arrangement drawings, cable schedule, bill of materials, instrument specification and datasheets, material requisitions and technical bid evaluations.
  • Provide support to site construction. Prepare instructions and plan for the site testing and commissioning.
  • Ensure that the I & C discipline deliverables meets design requirements, scope and client expectations by maintaining a high level of communication with project team and clients.
  • Lead and oversee both the development and approval of work schedules to ensure that objectives of cost, quality and time are met.
  • Manage complex technical discussions with third parties (customer, suppliers, and regulators) to facilitate appropriate technical decisions.
  • Work in accordance with Ausenco’s values and demonstrate commitment, active involvement and leadership regarding safety, sustainability, client, people and financial accountabilities.
  • Participate in HAZOP reviews and in other technical, constructability and quality reviews.

About You

  • A recognized Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant engineering area from an accredited university and a P.Eng designation for at least 10 years
  • Familiar with relevant engineering and safety related standard and code.
  • 12+ years' engineering experience, preferably gained through industrial projects relating to mining, materials handling, power generation & distribution.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC/DCS systems, SCADA, communication protocols popular in North America.
  • Demonstrated working experience with the main-stream brands of control system and instrumentation suppliers.
  • Familiarity to LV power distribution, breaker protection & control, motor control, VFD's and motor starters as an asset.
  • A successful track record working on medium/large engineering projects within an EPC environment as an asset.
  • Previous experience in mining projects as well as experience of Smart ® Instrumentation, Smart ® P & ID would be an advantage
  • A positive and upbeat attitudE

Salary range: $145,000 - 195,000

Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
