You'll play a key role in critical project phases, from Basic Engineering and Detailed Engineering to Construction, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of commodities. We are currently seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Lead Piping Engineer to join our team.

About the role

  • Deliver Piping engineering design according to required timeframes and standards by supervising the performance of Piping engineers, reviewing deliverables and providing high level technical expertise.
  • Coordinate resources in different Ausenco (and sub-consultant) offices in different time zones.
  • Perform and verify hydraulic calculations for pumped and gravity flow systems.
  • Facilitate the purchase of appropriate equipment, contract packages and bulks by specifying requirements and assisting Procurement with the purchase of equipment.
  • Contribute to the cost-efficient delivery of Piping engineering by managing the man hour budget and reviewing and approving Piping capital cost estimates, recommending alternative approaches where possible.
  • Evaluate tenders from a technical standpoint by applying multi-disciplinary knowledge and experience.
  • Issue drawings and other relevant information for construction by working with Engineers and Designers.
  • Guide designers in best practice for piping layout, and participation multidiscipline layout reviews.
  • Develop piping and valve material standards and engineering specifications.
  • Input, review and incorporate vendor data to produce IFC level P&ID’s.
  • Produce purchasing documents including datasheets, scopes of work, MTO’s and lists for procurement of bulk pipe, fitting and valves.
  • Facilitate the purchase of bulk pipe, fitting and valves by creating data sheets, scopes or work, technical specifications, MTOs and lists, evaluating and conforming multiple tenderers, and assisting procurement with the purchase of the materials.
  • Motivate engineers and other project team members towards superior performance by supporting daily performance and providing ongoing mentoring and training.

About you

  • Undergraduate Degree in Mechanical / Piping Engineering.
  • Minimum 15 years piping design engineering experience in a relevant industry, e.g. mining, mineral processing.
  • Ability to resolve most technical issues in an efficient manner utilizing personal knowledge, external consultants and in-house experience.
  • Knowledge of multi-discipline engineering.
  • Experience with SmartPlant is considered an advantage.
  • Ability to lead with prior experience leading Piping project teams.
  • Commitment to mentoring and coaching of personnel.
  • Ability to complete performance reviews on study and project personnel.
  • Proven ability to manage, motivate and influence employees at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Well-developed written and oral skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks for the design team and manage time effectively.

Salary range: $140,000 - $170,000 annually

Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
