Reliability Engineer/ Specialist in Pulp and Paper Plants

Our team in Brazil is growing, we are currently recruiting for a Reliability Engineer/ Specialist in Pulp and Paper Plants to join our Global Consulting Business line to join our team in Guaíba, Rio Grande do Sul.

About the role:

  • Analyze the criticality of equipment using a risk matrix based on failure consequences and probability, considering its impact on safety, environment, production costs, and maintenance.
  • Analyze the equipment failure history to apply modeling techniques and characterize its behavior over time.
  • Measure, analyze, and communicate the business impact of operational losses from highly critical equipment on a weekly and/or monthly basis.
  • Establish trends and provide feedback to the plant on how actual performance compares to goals and support plant management decisions.
  • Understand the life cycle cost of critical equipment to ensure that improvements positively impact total cost of ownership and advise clients effectively.
  • Organize and facilitate workshops to review equipment strategy applying RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance), aiming to develop and optimize maintenance guidelines for critical project equipment.
  • Perform field diagnostics with the client to understand the scope of their issues.
  • Assist planners and superintendents in implementing actions based on previously conducted diagnostics.
  • Record all reliability improvement projects in the maintenance management system or a dedicated database, maintaining a library of equipment modifications.
  • Lead and support the implementation of maintenance programs to reduce losses.
  • Assist long-term planners to ensure that all critical equipment is properly coded with material lists in the maintenance management system.
  • Communicate results to the client at the end of each consultancy session, ensuring proper process knowledge management.
  • Apply a business vision during project development, balancing client expectations with project profitability goals.
  • Maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for the role.
  • Identify, quantify, and deliver process and system improvements, actively participating in implementation processes to achieve service excellence and development.
  • Ensure the quality of results delivered to clients.

About you:

  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineer with at least 8 years of experience in asset management and consultancy.
  • Postgraduate degree in processes, asset management, or reliability.
  • Knowledge of maintenance engineering techniques such as RCM and RCA (Root Cause Analysis).
  • Experience with operation and maintenance of equipment related to pulp and paper plants.
