Electrical Engineer – Industrial and Building Services - Burlington

Our team in Canada is growing, we are currently recruiting for an Electrical Engineer to join our team in Burlington

About the role:

  • Design electrical systems for industrial and infrastructure projects within the consulting engineering team including normal, emergency and standby power generation and distribution systems, lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm systems, telecommunication and security systems, with designs to meet or exceed local building and electrical code requirements;
  • Develop electrical designs, drawings, and schedules including preliminary, schematic, general arrangement, detailed design, tender and construction drawings for a wide range of clients.
  • Work as Engineer of Record to stamp engineering deliverables and sign off projects.
  • Ability to lead the preparation of drawings and utilization of CAD aided design software for the creation of single line diagrams, motor schematics and wiring, general arrangements, distribution panels, grounding, lighting, fire alarm, cable raceway and installation design.
  • Visit project sites to conduct assessments of existing electrical systems, and to inspect new installations.
  • Participate in design team meetings to achieve an optimal coordinated design;
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to both direct reports and to other members of the project team.
  • Maintain familiarity with current techniques, industry standards, etc.
  • Work with other disciplines and vendors to coordinate designs and obtain relevant product details.

About you

  • Electrical Engineer (P.Eng designation in Ontario or ability to acquire it in the near future)
  • 7+ years’ experience of preparing electrical, communication, control and instrumentation deliverables for building and industrial projects, in an engineering environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with the CEC, OESC, CSA and OBC Standards.
  • Previous experience in power distribution, lighting calculation and design, fire alarm design is a must.
  • Strong technical, organizational, coordination, and communication skills, as demonstrated through previous project work.
  • Previous experience in the power industry project is an asset.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation, controls, SCADA, and schematic/wiring is an asset.
  • Able to function well, either as part of a team or independently.
  • Able to quickly absorb and use company-specific techniques, standards, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, in English. Knowledge of French and/or Spanish is an asset.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license in the Province of Ontario and be able to visit client sites independently as required.
