You'll play a key role in critical project phases, from Basic Engineering and Detailed Engineering to Construction, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of commodities. We are currently seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Intermediate Piping Engineer to be based in either Burlington or the Calgary office. If you’re the right person for the job, we are open to discussing you being located in another office location.

About the Role

  • Deliver piping engineering in line with project requirements and Ausenco’s engineering standards.
  • Communicate with engineers from other disciplines to ensure design will be delivered according to project budget and schedules.
  • Network distribution sizing and calculations with Fathom or similar.
  • Maintain regular, appropriate and effective communication with external customers.
  • Assist with project planning and recommend improvements in the design process.
  • Assist designers in the production of project design drawings by providing technical assistance and reviewing drawings in a timely manner.
  • Development of piping and valve material standards and engineering specification.
  • Input, review and incorporation of vendor data to produce IFC level P&ID’s.
  • Produce purchasing documents including SOW, MTO’s, lists and the like for procurement of bulk pipe, fitting and valves.
  • Guide designers in best practice for piping layout, and participation multidiscipline layout reviews.
  • Perform and verify hydraulic calculations for pumped and gravity flow systems.

About you

  • Undergraduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada.
  • 5 to 10 years’ experience with slurry piping systems.
  • Prior mechanical design engineering experience ideally in a relevant industry, e.g. mining, mineral processing, materials handling, heavy industrial.
  • Ability to resolve most technical issues in an efficient manner with some guidance.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Extensive experience with ASME B31.3 and associated standards.
  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in slurry handling and rubber lined pipe design.
  • Experience with SmartPlant is considered an advantage.
