We're expanding our Infrastructure Engineering team in Burnaby and seeking either an Electrical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or a Junior Electrical Engineer to contribute to critical power infrastructure and mining projects. You'll work alongside senior engineers on electrical distribution system upgrades, substation modernization, grid resilience improvements, and mining facility electrical systems that form the backbone of reliable power delivery across diverse industries.

About the Role

  • Performing electrical engineering detail design calculations and systems analysis
  • Conducting site visits to client substations and operations facilities to understand project scope and collect essential data
  • Creating technical drawings and documentation using AutoCAD
  • Collaborating with other engineering disciplines, suppliers, and contractors to clarify specifications and requirements
  • Evaluating supplier proposals and reviewing deliverable documentation for compliance
  • Ensuring all engineering deliverables meet applicable regulations, standards, and corporate procedures
  • Managing project timelines to deliver high-quality results on schedule

About You

  • Recognized accreditation as an Electrical Technologist or Engineer (diploma or undergraduate degree)
  • 0-5 years of experience in electrical systems design within Municipal, Utility, Industrial, or Mining projects
  • Working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code and BC building codes
  • Electrical drafting experience using AutoCAD
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Excellent planning, organizing, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • BC Hydro experience or previous co-op experience in electric utility or infrastructure
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration or progress toward EIT certification

Travel Expectations:

This role involves periodic site visits to substations, mining facilities, and client operations throughout BC and potentially other provinces (estimated 10-15% travel).

Reporting Structure:

You'll report to our Senior Electrical Engineer and work within a collaborative team.

Salary range: $70,000-$95,000

Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
