We're seeking a Mechanical Designer to support our Mining & Metals team. In this role, you will develop high-quality 2D and 3D models of mineral processing equipment and plant layouts, supporting projects from conceptual design through detailed engineering. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to prepare mechanical drawings, equipment arrangements, and design documentation while ensuring compliance with project requirements, drafting standards, and industry best practices.

About the role

  • Prepare detailed 2D and 3D models of mineral processing equipment, including belt conveyors, tanks, pumps, crushers, mills, and associated systems.
  • Support the development of mechanical layouts, conceptual designs, and detailed engineering drawings under the guidance of senior designers and engineers.
  • Collaborate with structural, process, piping, electrical, and layout teams to ensure design integration and coordination across disciplines.
  • Liaise with engineers and project stakeholders to obtain direction, technical specifications, and design feedback.
  • Produce accurate fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings in accordance with project requirements.
  • Maintain drafting and design standards, ensuring consistency and quality across multiple projects.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

About you

  • Advanced Diploma or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design and drafting.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D/3D, Inventor, or similar 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks or Solid Edge.
  • Experience preparing mechanical layouts and detailed design drawings within industrial, mining, mineral processing, or EPC/EPCM project environments is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, engineering drawings, and industry standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving capabilities, and commitment to professional growth and continuous learning

Salary range: $85,000 - $120,000

Salary is determined factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
