Due to continued business growth, we are seeking a Pipeline Engineer with a strong technical background in tailings and slurry systems to join our Brisbane office and support studies and project delivery across the resources sector.

About the role

As a Pipeline Engineer, you will contribute to the design and delivery of tailings, slurry and water pipeline systems across a range of studies and execution-phase projects. Working closely with senior engineers, project teams and other disciplines, you will progressively build your technical depth while taking ownership of defined engineering deliverables.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Execute assigned pipeline engineering deliverables in accordance with project scope, schedule and quality requirements
  • Participate in project studies and design execution, including OoM, PFS, FS and detailed design phases
  • Support the design of tailings and slurry pipeline systems, including hydraulic analysis, pipe sizing and material selection
  • Assist with slurry hydraulics, pumping system design and basic rheology assessments
  • Contribute to pipeline routing, layout development and flexibility considerations under guidance from senior engineers
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and project teams across Brisbane and the wider Ausenco business
  • Support continuous improvement of engineering workflows, tools and design practices
  • Assist with project planning activities, schedules and execution strategies
  • Prepare and contribute to engineering calculations, technical documentation and design deliverables
  • Support proposal development through technical inputs and design documentation
  • Provide coaching and support to graduates and junior engineers as appropriate 

About you

You are a capable and motivated Pipeline Engineer with a strong interest in tailings and slurry systems, who enjoys technically challenging work in a collaborative environment.

You will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical preferred)
  • 6+ years’ experience in pipeline engineering within mining, resources or infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated experience in tailings and slurry pipeline design and/or operation
  • Exposure to slurry hydraulics, pumping systems and basic rheological principles
  • Experience with tailings pipeline detailed design and an understanding of operational considerations
  • Experience with water transfer pipelines and/or borefields is advantageous
  • Working knowledge of relevant engineering standards and design codes (ISO, AS, ANSI, API, etc.)
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
