Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer - Vancouver

Our team in Canada is growing. We are currently recruiting for a Senior I&C Engineer to join our Minerals & Metals Business line in the Vancouver office.

About the Role:

  • Collaborating with the engineering and design team from FEED through scoping and Detailed Engineering to Construction support.
  • Developing capital cost estimates for feasibility study and detail engineering proposals
  • Monitoring costs associated with the selection, cost and installation of Instrumentation and Control System equipment
  • Design instrumentation-related engineering deliverables, i.e. instrument indexes, installation details, location drawings, datasheets, wiring drawings, loop drawings, P&ID's, material requisitions, evaluation of alternatives and selection of instruments, calculations (control valve, flow elements, pressure safety valves), document control logs, bill of materials and instrument change approvals, construction work package.
  • Design controls related engineering deliverables, i.e., logic drawings, termination/ wiring diagrams, block diagrams, panel layouts, control system topology/ control system architecture, control narrative, and cable schedule.
  • Participates in HAZOP reviews and in other technical, constructability and quality reviews.

 

About You:

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation and Instrumentation or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience as an instrumentation and control engineer in heavy industry is required.
  • Registered with EGBC as a P.Eng or eligible to register with EGBC as a P.Eng. within the next year.
  • Strong analytical, communication (oral and written) and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary project team including process, mechanical, civil-structural, electrical, instrumentation and CAD support
  • Working knowledge of codes, standards, regulations, and practices.
  • Familiarity with hardware requirements of PLC, SCADA and DCS control systems
  • Knowledge of Industrial IT including Ethernet networking system is an asset.
  • Experience with communication protocols such as DNP, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, IEC 61850 is an asset.

Salary range: $135,000-$155,000

Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
