Our team in the US is growing. We are currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Layout Designer to join our Minerals & Metals Business line based out of the Tucson or Denver offices. You will play a key role in critical project phases, from Study Phase Engineering and Detailed Engineering to Construction. Bring your experience, and gain further experience, across a variety of Mining commodities with a large variety of clients.  As a Senior Mechanical Layout Designer, you will plan, develop, and quality check civil design work, produce 3D models, drawings and documentation for a project, and take-off quantities for estimating.

 

About the Role

  •  Coordination of a multidisciplinary project team of designers across multiple offices
  • Assistance with forecasting and monitoring of budgeted hours
  • Monitoring and enforcement of project drafting standards
  • Development of mechanical layouts in 2D and 3D environments
  • Preparation of drawings according to project design criteria
  • Application of project defined regulations, codes, and standards
  • Facilitation of project model reviews, and follow up of action items (tags)
  • Compliance with all Ausenco corporate policies and procedures by adopting Ausenco Quality Assurance and Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, procedures and requirements.

 

About You:

  • Educational Background: A Diploma in Mechanical engineering Technician’s diploma or equivalent Drafting Technology from a recognized college is essential to kickstart your career with us.
  • Experience: We’re looking for someone with 4-8 years’ experience in the Layout of Mineral Processing Plants in a multidisciplinary EPC/EPCM environment
  • Working knowledge of HEXAGON SmartPlant preferred or similar (AutoCad / AutoPLANT (3D), Microstation)
  • Gold and Copper commodities experience
  • Understanding of industry regulatory codes and standards
  • Well-developed written and oral skills
  • Construction Knowledge: While not mandatory, having experience in construction or contract administration would be a great asset to our team.
  • Team Player: We value collaboration, so a demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of multi-functional project teams is crucial.
  • Design Experience: If you have experience in structural and architectural design, that would be a fantastic addition to your skill set.
  • Willingness to travel when required to the clients job site for reviews and to gather field or system data.
  • Experience with Smartplant, Industrial projects, and core mechanical design (such as chutes and plate work) would be considered an asset
