We are currently seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Site Commissioning Manager to join our team.

The Site/Project Commissioning Manager is responsible for the safe planning, execution, management, and handover of all commissioning activities associated with large-scale mining and minerals projects. This is a site-based FIFO role requiring a highly experienced, hands-on commissioning professional with a proven track record delivering brownfield and greenfield mining projects from construction completion through start-up, performance testing, and operational handover.

The successful candidate will provide leadership to multidisciplinary commissioning teams, ensuring that systems, equipment, and facilities are commissioned safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements, operational readiness objectives, and client expectations.

The role requires a practical field-focused leader who is comfortable working directly with construction, operations, vendors, contractors, and engineering teams to resolve issues and drive successful project outcomes. Experience in site planning, workface coordination, and integrated execution planning is considered a strong asset.

About the role

  • Lead the development and execution of project commissioning strategies, plans, procedures, and schedules.
  • Manage all commissioning phases.
  • Establish commissioning priorities aligned with construction completion and operational readiness requirements.
  • Drive a safety-first culture throughout all commissioning activities.
  • Ensure commissioning activities comply with project specifications, engineering requirements, regulatory obligations, and company standards.
  • Provide visible field leadership and actively participate in site activities.
  • Coordinate commissioning teams across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, process, and operational disciplines.
  • Monitor field progress and proactively remove obstacles affecting commissioning execution.
  • Lead troubleshooting, problem solving, and technical issue resolution during commissioning and start-up.
  • Manage vendor representatives and specialist commissioning contractors.
  • Verify systems are commissioned in accordance with approved procedures and acceptance criteria.
  • Develop detailed commissioning schedules integrated with engineering, procurement, construction, and operational readiness activities.
  • Interface closely with project controls and construction management teams to ensure commissioning readiness milestones are achieved.
  • Coordinate turnover planning and system completions activities.
  • Participate in construction planning meetings and readiness reviews.
  • Support look-ahead planning and resource forecasting.
  • Contribute to site execution planning, work packaging, and integrated project schedules.
  • Interface with client commissioning, operations, maintenance, and technical teams.
  • Coordinate activities between engineering, construction, quality, HSE, vendors, and operations personnel.
  • Lead commissioning meetings, readiness reviews, and progress reporting.
  • Provide regular updates to project leadership regarding risks, opportunities, and performance metrics.
  • Support development of operational readiness programs.
  • Coordinate operator training and familiarization activities.
  • Ensure completion of punch lists and outstanding deficiencies.
  • Manage performance testing and verification activities.
  • Facilitate final system turnover and project handover documentation.
  • Support achievement of production ramp-up objectives.
  • Champion safe work practices and ensure compliance with site HSE requirements.
  • Lead commissioning risk assessments, isolation planning, and permit-to-work activities.
  • Ensure commissioning activities are executed in accordance with quality management requirements.
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation where required.

About you

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Chemical, Metallurgical, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer designation is considered an asset.
  • Commissioning certifications or specialized commissioning training are advantageous.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in engineering, construction, commissioning, or project execution.
  • Minimum 8 years of commissioning leadership experience on large mining and minerals projects.
  • Demonstrated experience commissioning mineral processing facilities including combinations of:
    • Crushing and conveying systems
    • Grinding circuits
    • Flotation plants
    • Thickening and filtration systems
    • Material handling systems
    • Dewatering facilities
    • Utilities and infrastructure systems
    • Tailings facilities support systems
    • Electrical substations and power distribution systems
  • Experience working within EPC and EPCM project delivery environments.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary commissioning teams in remote site environments.
  • Strong field execution background with a hands-on approach to problem solving.
  • Experience managing vendors, contractors, and client interfaces.
  • Site planning and integrated execution planning experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of commissioning methodologies and system completions processes.
  • Thorough knowledge of mining and mineral processing operations.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and start-up problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of construction, turnover, and operational readiness requirements.
  • Experience with commissioning management systems and completions software.
  • Ability to lead teams in fast-paced and challenging site environments.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining safety and quality standards.
