Our global team is growing; we are currently recruiting for a Coastal Engineer to join our Marine and Coastal Group. The role is ideally based in our Burnaby office but for the right person we may have flexibility on the location.

About the role

  • Carry out coastal studies related to assess waves and wave loading, currents, hydrodynamics, morphodynamics, vessel motions, etc. and their relation to the project.
  • Perform numerical simulations and develop / maintain tools for their processing
  • Help maintain and expand Ausenco’s coastal engineering toolkit in a collaborative way
  • Design of coastal structures facilities and structures, from concept to detailed design, including understanding of environmental loads and layout of port facilities.
  • Help grow the business and the coastal services of Ausenco, especially digital ones
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary project team to support the coastal engineering designs and studies according to project timeframes and budget.

About you

  • 3 to 10 years of experience in engineering, hydraulics, hydrodynamics, port and coastal structures, or related fields with a coastal focus.
  • Eligible for Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration
  • Degree in civil engineering with a diploma in hydraulics or a related discipline
  • Postgraduate studies in coastal engineering (preferred)
  • Strong foundation in computer science.  Experience in using Python’s data stack would be an asset.
  • Experience in coastal engineering topics, and with numerical modeling of physical processes using tools such as Delft3D
  • Experience designing coastal facilities and structures, including risk assessment, failure probability, and construction feasibility
  • Effective written and verbal communication, with attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Organized, proactive, and eager to learn from senior engineers
  • Interest in developing long-term expertise in coastal and marine engineering
  • Additional languages (French, Spanish, or Portuguese) are also an asset

Salary range $90,000 - $150,000 annually             

Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
