Join our team and be part of an exciting execution-phase project in the North American mining industry. You'll play a key role in critical project phases, from Basic Engineering and Detailed Engineering to Construction, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of commodities. We are currently seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Lead Electrical Engineer to join our team. We are looking for someone that is ready to provide solutions for our mining projects with a gold and base metals background with experience in studies, detailed engineering, construction, commissioning and operations will be well suited for this role.

About the role

  • Lead and manage the development of electrical engineering deliverables across all project phases (concept, FEED, detailed design, and execution).
  • Provide technical direction for the design of HV and LV power distribution, motor control centers (MCCs), substations, lighting, earthing, and communication systems.
  • Coordinate electrical design activities with other disciplines, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Review and approve electrical specifications, single-line diagrams, cable sizing, load calculations, equipment layouts, and procurement documents.
  • Ensure engineering outputs comply with applicable codes (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NEMA), safety regulations, and client specifications.
  • Mentor and provide technical oversight to junior and intermediate electrical engineers and designers.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, FATs, and site inspections as needed.
  • Support project management with schedule and cost tracking, progress reporting, and risk identification.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients on electrical engineering matters.
  • Develop electrical designs, drawings and schedules including preliminary, schematic, general arrangement, detailed design, tender and construction drawings for a wide range of clients.
  • Ability to lead the preparation of drawings and utilization of CAD aided design software for the creation of single line diagrams, motor schematics and wiring, general arrangements, distribution panels, grounding, lighting, fire alarm, cable raceway and installation design.
  • Work as Engineer of Record to stamp engineering deliverables and sign off projects.
  • Visit project sites to conduct assessments of existing electrical systems, and to inspect new installations.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution; Chartered Engineer (CPEng, PE, or equivalent) preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a lead or senior engineering capacity on mining, mineral processing, or heavy industrial projects.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems for large-scale industrial facilities, including substations, switchgear, VFDs, and power distribution networks.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation, controls, SCADA, and schematic/wiring is an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership in coordinating multidiscipline design teams in an EPC/EPCM environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Salary Range: $140,000 – $170,000 annually

Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
