Our Asset Optimization services is growing and we are looking for a Maintenance | Assistant Superintendent in Quebec to join us. We are seeking highly motivated individual with excellent technical and interpersonal skills to work with our talented team in delivering outstanding service to our clients.

About the role

This is a permanent position based in Meadowbank and Amarug, following a 10 x10 schedule. FIFO is available from Toronto and Montreal.

  • Assists in managing contractors to ensure the safe and efficient execution of work packages.
  • Aids in monitoring project scope, schedule, and budget to meet approved outcomes.
  • Works closely with department heads, engineers, supervisors, trainers, safety and environmental personnel, and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment and operational efficiency.
  • Contributes to site-based reliability initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Assists in reviewing and updating the maintenance strategy in collaboration with the Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Supports the management of the site-based condition monitoring program.
  • Provides onsite technical support to the maintenance team as needed, including troubleshooting and breakdown response.
  • Assists in conducting failure investigations to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Supports Shutdown Planning and Procurement teams.
  • Prepare operating and capital budgets based on project and production plans.
  • Develop and oversee the maintenance strategy for all underground equipment, encompassing both the mobile fleet and fixed plant infrastructure.
  • Drive the implementation of maintenance systems and preventive maintenance programs to enhance equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Build and manage the maintenance workforce necessary to support underground operations, ensuring seamless execution of maintenance activities.
  • Provide input on underground infrastructure design to align with production and operational need

About you

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineer.
  • G Class Driver’s License (Required)
  • 5+ years of experience in mine maintenance supervisory experience, some open pit and/or heavy earthworks construction experience highly desirable.
  • 10+ years related maintenance experience in maintenance, reliability or plant engineering, as well as experience in concentrator and mining industries
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex maintenance issues.
  • Experience in the field of equipment reliability, machinery or process troubleshooting, plant or process startup, or equipment or system maintenance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of PAS55/ISO55000 principles.
  • Exposure to Computerised Maintenance Management Systems/EAM systems e.g. SAP, Maximo, Oracle.
  • A detailed understanding of how an efficient planning process should function
  • High-level interpersonal skills together with effective communication skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with proficiency in French considered an asset.
