We are seeking a Manager, Studies to join us in our South Bank Brisbane office.
This is an exciting leadership opportunity to lead, develop and grow a high-performing team of study management professionals within one of Ausenco’s most respected and successful service lines. Working closely with the regional leadership team, you will play a key role in shaping the future direction of our studies business, strengthening client relationships, developing talent and ensuring the successful delivery of complex, multidisciplinary studies across the global mining sector.
Reporting to the Director, Technical Services – Brisbane, this role offers the opportunity to work on fascinating studies from every corner of the world while providing strategic leadership to both our people and project portfolio. You'll collaborate with a passionate team, challenge conventional thinking, explore new ways of doing things and help deliver innovative solutions that align clients’ commercial drivers with world-class engineering outcomes.
About the role
As Manager, Studies, you will:
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of Study Managers and study professionals, fostering a high-performance culture focused on safety, technical and commercial excellence, collaboration and client satisfaction.
- Provide strategic leadership for the regional studies business, supporting business planning, resource forecasting, capability development and growth initiatives.
- Partner with the Director, Technical Services and senior leadership team to execute regional business objectives and drive sustainable growth.
- Build, manage and strengthen key client relationships to maximise business opportunities and enhance Ausenco’s reputation in the market.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through industry engagement, networking, market intelligence and collaboration with business development teams.
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of study opportunities across the base metals, gold and broader minerals sectors.
- Oversee the successful delivery of Concept, Pre-Feasibility, Feasibility and Definitive Feasibility Studies (DFS) across a portfolio of projects, ensuring alignment with client expectations, commercial objectives, schedules and budgets.
- Provide governance, oversight and accountability across study execution, ensuring consistent application of project controls, change and risk management practices and quality standards.
- Support Study Managers and technical leads in resolving complex project, stakeholder and commercial challenges.
- Ensure effective resource allocation and utilisation across the studies group, balancing client commitments, team development and business priorities.
- Lead the continuous improvement of study management methodologies, tools, systems and delivery frameworks.
- Integrate multidisciplinary inputs from engineering, geology, mining, processing, infrastructure, environmental and social disciplines to support robust and decision-ready study outcomes.
- Review and approve study execution plans, schedules, budgets and commercial proposals.
- Contribute to major pursuits, proposals and strategic client presentations.
- Develop future leaders within the studies team through coaching, mentoring and succession planning initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with clients, project stakeholders and internal leadership teams.
- Bring together technical expertise and commercial acumen to support informed business decisions and client outcomes.
- Ensure full compliance with Ausenco’s corporate policies, including Quality Assurance and Occupational Health, Safety & Environment requirements.
About you
To excel in this role, you will bring:
- 15+ years' experience within the mining and minerals industry, including significant exposure to base metals, gold and minerals processing projects.
- A tertiary qualification in Engineering, preferably Process, Chemical, Metallurgical or Extractive Metallurgy.
- Professional Engineer registration (preferred).
- Extensive experience leading the development, delivery and governance of mining and mineral processing studies across multiple commodities and jurisdictions.
- Demonstrated success leading Study Managers, multidisciplinary teams or technical services groups.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing project portfolios, business performance and client relationships.
- Previous experience in roles such as Manager, Studies, Process Engineering Manager, Engineering Manager, Studies Director, Area Manager or Senior Study Manager.
- An established industry network and strong reputation within the mining and minerals sector.
- Proven ability to win work, develop client relationships and contribute to business growth initiatives.
- Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Strong people management experience including mentoring, coaching and team development.
- Experience with JORC Code and NI 43-101 reporting requirements (highly advantageous).
- Willingness to travel as required.
