Piping Designer – Vancouver or Calgary

You'll play a key role in critical project phases, from Basic Engineering and Detailed Engineering to Construction, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of commodities. We are currently recruiting for an Intermediate Piping Designer to join our team in the Vancouver or Calgary office.

About the role

  • Work within a multidisciplinary project team of designers and ensure interdisciplinary co-ordination when developing the models
  • Develop piping models in a 3D environment (SmartPlant experience an asset)
  • Prepare piping layout detail designs and drawings in line with project design requirements for various areas of a concentrator facility (specifically tailings thickener and filtration plants) with focus on the following:
    • Slurry pumping and piping systems
    • Water and air pumping and piping distribution networks
    • Reagents pumping and piping systems,
    • POX piping flexibility design
  • Assist in the facilitation of project model reviews and follow up on action items
  • Preparation of piping isometrics.

 

About you

  • 4 to 8 years’ of experience in piping design in a multidisciplinary EPC/EPCM environment with mining or heavy industrial design is an asset
  • Knowledge of slurry handling and rubber lined pipe design
  • Detailed knowledge of piping systems, components and hardware, including understanding of P&IDs and material take-offs.
  • Working knowledge of Plant 3D required
  • SmartPlant experience would be an asset.
  • Understanding of industry regulatory codes and standards
  • Well-developed written and oral skills
  • Ability to resolve most technical issues in an efficient manner with some guidance.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Extensive experience with ASME B16 and B31 and associated standards

Salary range: $78,000 - $102,000/annually  

Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
