Our team in the US is growing, we are currently recruiting for a Senior Estimator (Minerals & Metals) to join our Tucson or Denver office.
About the role
- Maintain accuracy of estimates by collecting and entering appropriate data into estimates
- Develop estimate plans, basis of estimates, and estimates for projects through managing estimate models, collecting, entering data, and conducting regular reviews
- Work with Engineering disciplines and Project Management to collect all necessary data on scope and quantities to prepare an accurate estimate in all specialty discipline areas.
- Coordinate with Procurement team for all request for budgetary quotations
- Organize estimates by the work breakdown structure and discipline, calculate wage and unit rates, check quantities and scope, calculate productivity factor and prepare field and office costs.
- Contribute to the maintenance of estimate unit rates within assigned disciplines: labor, equipment and materials
- Conduct simulations or other required methods to establish project contingency, escalation, risk and all other reserves
- Manage any changes that will impact on estimates through continual contact with all levels of Management, Project Managers and the Engineering Department to determine required changes and have these incorporated
- Maintain a good working relationship with external suppliers and contractors through effective and ongoing communication strategies
Qualifications - External
- Extensive experience in a similar role with an engineering consulting firm and/or construction company preferably in the minerals and metal sector. The emphasis for this role is support of PEA/PFS/FS projects but experience in an EPC/EPCM context will also be an asset.
- A degree or diploma in engineering, applied science/ related field or extensive experience (site experience or trade background would also be an advantage but not essential).
- Sound numerical, conceptual and analytical skills, with high attention to detail.
- Experience with NI 43-101 and SK1300 reporting
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience working on a project team.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Power point) required
- Previous experience with industrial estimating software preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable interfacing with clients and all levels of management.
