We are looking for a Senior Risk Assessor to join our team, working across a variety of interesting and challenging projects.

As a proven leader in Risk Assessment, you will bring experience in the provision of senior technical and regulatory advice for the completion of risk assessment projects, including human health and ecological risk assessments, environmental toxicology/ecotoxicology issues, and client and regulatory liaison at the local, provincial, and federal levels. You have an entrepreneurial spirit and an interest in growing the business, along with mentoring and developing junior and intermediate staff with respect to risk assessment and project management services.

We have offices in Burnaby and Victoria BC, Calgary, AB. Ideally you would be in BC and/or experience in risk assessment regulations in BC, however, if you’re the right person for the job, we are open to discussing remote working arrangements.

About the role 

Technical

  • Preparation/Senior review of site-specific risk assessment programs and reports.
  • Preparation/Senior review of contaminated sites screening level and detailed quantitative human health and ecological risk assessment programs and reports, with a particular focus on those prepared to support site closure through the BC Contaminated Sites Regulation (CSR).
  • Preparation/Senior review of risk assessment reports and environmental assessment (EA) chapters to support EA applications (through the BC EAO or Impact Assessment Agency of Canada)
  • Senior review of reports and calculations prepared by junior/intermediate staff.
  • Contribute to detailed site investigation planning.

Business Development

  • Develop client relationships that facilitate successful project completion and identifies future opportunities. 
  • Maintain your industry expertise and actively participate in upgrading your professional and leadership skills to ensure Ausenco remains a leader in the marketplace.
  • Develop project proposals and lead the client development process, as appropriate.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to clients and prospective clients.

 About you 

  • 8+ years’ progressive Risk Assessment experience
  • R.P.Bio./P.Biol., P.Eng., P.Geo, P.Ag, or P.Chem. professional designation, or equivalent (R.P.Bio preferred).
  • Comprehensive experience in Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessment
  • Experience in BC Contaminated Sites Regulations and submissions for Certificate of Compliance (or Approval in Principle) would be beneficial, but not critical.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and strong self-direction abilities.
  • Strong belief and demonstrated experience in client satisfaction.
  • Proven ability to develop study designs to meet project, regulatory, and client objectives.
  • Skilled in data management and evaluation.
  • Understanding of pertinent BC and Canadian regulations and guidance.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability and willingness to train and mentor staff.

Salary range: $110,000 - $140,000 annually

Salary range Expected Salary:  Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.

If you have slightly less experience than listed, we still welcome your application—final compensation will be assessed based on skills, experience, and overall fit for the role.
