The Sustainability Coordinator supports implementation of the Project Sustainability Management Plan (SMP) and associated environmental and social management requirements during construction and early works activities. The role supports day-to-day environmental compliance activities through field inspections, contractor coordination, monitoring support, reporting, and implementation of environmental and social controls.

Working closely with the Environmental Manager, contractors, and construction teams, the Sustainability Coordinator helps ensure that environmental commitments, permit conditions, management plans, and sustainability objectives are effectively integrated into field execution activities. This is a site-based role with regular interaction across construction, environmental, and operational teams.

About the role:

  • Support contractor compliance activities related to erosion and sediment control, water management, waste management, wildlife protection, housekeeping, and reclamation requirements.
  • Assist with environmental monitoring programs, including water quality sampling, field observations, inspections, and data collection activities.
  • Track environmental and social issues, incidents, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
  • Support incident response activities, including documentation, investigations, and follow-up actions.
  • Compile, review, and track environmental and sustainability performance data received from contractors and monitoring programs.
  • Support maintenance of environmental KPI tracking systems and sustainability dashboards, including tracking of inspections, monitoring results, incidents, corrective actions, training, waste management, and other compliance metrics.
  • Assist with preparation of environmental reports, inspection records, monitoring summaries, dashboard updates, and sustainability performance summaries.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of environmental and social management documentation, tracking systems, and field records.
  • Participate in toolbox meetings, field coordination meetings, and contractor engagement activities.
  • Coordinate with construction personnel, environmental monitors, contractors, and subcontractors regarding environmental and sustainability requirements.
  • Promote environmental awareness and compliance culture within field activities.

About You:

  • Degree, diploma or certificate in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Biology or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting environmental compliance or sustainability programs in mining, construction, or major infrastructure projects preferred.
  • Experience conducting environmental field inspections and supporting monitoring programs in construction environments.
  • Working knowledge of environmental permits, erosion and sediment control practices, environmental management plans, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Experience with environmental sampling, field documentation, and reporting considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
