Based at South Brisbane, we are seeking a Business Analyst to bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams across AI and digital transformation initiatives. This person will translate business needs into clear requirements, evaluate emerging technologies (including AI and automation), and help prioritize a portfolio of projects that deliver measurable value. The role blends classic business analysis with a forward-looking focus on data, AI use cases, and digital product delivery.

About the role

• Elicit, document, and validate business and functional requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and process analysis.
• Translate business problems into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, and solution specifications for development and vendor teams.
• Partner with stakeholders to Identify and qualify AI and automation opportunities across business functions, building the business case, expected ROI, and success metrics for each.
• Analyze current-state ("as-is") processes and design improved future-state ("to-be") workflows, identifying opportunities for digitization and efficiency.
• Support the full delivery lifecycle for AI and digital products, from discovery and proof-of-concept through deployment, adoption, and post-launch performance monitoring.
• Define and track KPIs and ROI for digital and AI initiatives; build reporting and dashboards to communicate outcomes to leadership.
• Facilitate user acceptance testing, change management, and training to drive real adoption of AI and digital tools.
• Act as an internal advisor on AI, data, and digital trends, and advise stakeholders on practical, responsible applications, including data quality, privacy, and governance considerations.

About you

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Project Management, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• Minimum 3+ years’ experience in business analysis within mining, IT, or digital environments, including exposure to data, AI, or automation initiatives
• Proven experience eliciting requirements and delivering technology projects in Agile and/or Waterfall environments
• Strong analytical capability, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into business value
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Proficiency with requirements and collaboration tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Monday.com, Azure DevOps) and process mapping tools (e.g. Visio)
• Ability to support governance and oversight activities for digital and AI initiatives 

Desirable / Preferred Experience

• Exposure to AI/ML concepts, generative AI use cases, or data analytics projects
• Working knowledge of SQL and data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)
• Familiarity with cloud and AI platforms (e.g. Azure AI, AWS, GCP, OpenAI/Anthropic APIs)
• Understanding of system architecture fundamentals, API integrations, and digital product lifecycles, including moving AI models from prototype to production
• Experience with AI governance frameworks, privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR), and responsible AI practices
• Relevant certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, Agile/Scrum, or AI/data-related credentials
• Awareness of data governance principles and regulatory requirements
