Our team in Canada is growing. We are currently recruiting for a Civil Designer to join our Minerals & Metals Business line in the Calgary or Vancouver Office.
As a Civil Designer, you will plan, develop, and quality check civil design work, produce 3D models, drawings and documentation for a project, and take-off quantities for estimating in critical project phases, from Study Phase Engineering to Detailed Engineering and Construction. Bring your experience and gain additional experience across a variety of Mining commodities with a large variety of clients.
About the Role
- Prepare 3D civil/earthwork models and 2D civil drawings for industrial and mining projects, including site plans, grading, drainage, roads, and parking lots.
- Produce detailed engineering drawings and documents, ensuring compliance with design standards and installation codes.
- Participate in formal engineering processes and site investigations for both front-end planning and detailed engineering phases.
- Interface with other disciplines (structural, mechanical, piping, electrical) to ensure integration of requirements in civil drawings.
- Liaise with engineers for direction, specifications, and feedback while maintaining consistent design drafting standards.
- Coordinate with clients, municipalities, agencies, and sub-consultants to expedite design completion.
- Develop and review design work within a small civil/structural design team for medium-sized projects.
- Prepare civil design estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Review and check civil engineering sketches and drawings from designers and drafters.
- Mentor junior civil designers and drafters, to help provide on-the-job training for professional development.
About You
- A Diploma in Civil Engineering Design and Drafting Technology from a recognized college is essential to kickstart your career with us.
- We’re looking for someone with 5 to 10 years of experience in civil design and drafting to bring valuable insights to our projects.
- Being proficient in AutoCAD 2D drafting is a must, as it’s a key tool in our design process.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D modeling and design is also essential, helping us create detailed and accurate models.
- While not mandatory, having experience in construction or contract administration would be a great asset to our team.
- We value collaboration, so a demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of multi-functional project teams is crucial.
- If you have experience in structural and architectural design, that would be a fantastic addition to your skill set.
- Extensive experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads software for design and drafting will definitely set you apart.

Salary range: $83,000 – $102,000 annually
Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
