Intermediate Civil Engineer - Vancouver

Our team in Canada is growing! We are currently recruiting for an Intermediate Civil Engineer to join our Project Delivery team in our Minerals and Metal Business line in the Vancouver office.

About the Role

  • Deliver Civil (Earthworks) engineering design according to required timeframes and standards by supervising the performance of Civil (Earthworks) engineers, reviewing deliverables and providing high level technical expertise.
  • Coordinate resources in different Ausenco (and sub-consultant) offices in different time zones
  • Facilitate the purchase of appropriate equipment, contract packages and bulks by specifying requirements and assisting Procurement with the purchase of equipment
  • Contribute to the cost-efficient delivery of Civil (Earthworks) engineering by managing the budget and reviewing and approving Civil (Earthworks) capital cost estimates, recommending alternative approaches where possible.
  • Evaluate tenders from a technical standpoint by applying multi-disciplinary knowledge and experience
  • Issue drawings and other relevant information for construction by working with Engineers and Designers
  • Motivate engineers and other project team members towards superior performance by supporting daily performance and providing ongoing mentoring and training
  • Prepare cost effective civil and site utility designs from conceptual design through to detail design, tender and construction in accordance with local codes and standards for industrial & mining projects. 
  • Act as engineer of record or discipline lead, providing direction to drafting and engineering staff in the preparation of designs, design drawings, contract documents, engineering specifications and cost estimates for civil projects.
  • Coordinate with project managers and various disciplines engineers and ensure consistency in execution of civil design activities to complete project work on time, on budget, and within the quality standards.
  • Perform site visits, inspections, preparation of reports, functional and detailed design relating to water and wastewater distribution and collection system, storm water management facilities, grading and bulk earthworks, parking lots and roads as related to mine sites.
  • Helping in proposal preparation

About You

  • Undergraduate Degree in Civil (Earthworks) Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Experience/technical skills in soil mechanics and hydraulic design including bearing capacity estimates, principal and retaining wall design, open channel design and catchment analysis, as well as general Civil Engineering skills including CAD and proficiency in Civil 3D.
  • Minimum 5 years Civil (Earthworks) design engineering experience including minimum of 3 years in mining and industrial projects
  • Ability to resolve most technical issues in an efficient manner utilizing personal knowledge, external consultants and in-house experience.
  • Knowledge of multi-discipline engineering.
  • Ability to lead with prior experience leading Civil (Earthworks) project teams.
  • Ability to complete performance reviews on study and project personnel.
  • Proven ability to manage, motivate and influence employees at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Well-developed written and oral skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks for the design team and manage time effectively.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of BC and member in good standing.
  • Experience in consulting engineering working on industrial, mining projects is preferred
  • Construction and contract administration experience is definitely an asset.

Salary range: $95,000-$120,000

Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
