Our team in Canada is growing, we are currently recruiting for an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join our Minerals and Metals Business line in the Vancouver office.

About the role

  • Perform electrical engineering systems design, studies, investigations and analysis, technical evaluations, cost estimates, and options analysis for new equipment or modifications to existing equipment and systems. 
  • Ensure design work interfaces with that of other disciplines.
  • Recommend changes in plans and specify estimated costs.
  • Consult with other departments, suppliers and contractors to clarify specifications.
  • Evaluate supplier’s proposals and deliverable documentation.
  • Help prepare technical reports, tender documentation and field support (including commissioning/site inspection).
  • Ensure that engineering deliverables (e.g., drawings, specifications, analysis, budget estimates) comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures and sound engineering practices.
  • Review drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and project documentation in accordance with QA/QC programs.
  • Ensure that project deliverables are met in a timely manner to a high-quality.
  • Direct and mentor junior staff.

 

About you

 

  • Recognized undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering. 
  • Registered as a P.Eng. with EGBC or eligible to do so.
  • 5-8 years’ experience in design of electrical systems within Mining, Municipal, Utility, Transportation projects. Experience working within an EPCM in heavy industry environment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code is a must, and familiarity with international standards is advantageous.
  • Experience with building electrical systems, such as, fire alarms, security, lighting & communications, fibre network, and data network will be an asset.
  • Familiarity with power system study software such as ETAP, SKM, or Easy Power will be an asset.
  • Construction site service experience & working directly with client is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, planning and organizing abilities with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A strong team player with the ability to work independently.

Salary range: $95-120K
