Our team in Brazil is growing, we are currently recruiting for a Senior Planning Engineer to join our Minerals & Metals Business line in the in Belo Horizonte office.
About the role:
We are seeking a Senior Planning Engineer with extensive experience in capital projects and strong ability to act strategically in the development of implementation schedules. This professional will be responsible for structuring, consolidating, and managing Master Schedules, ensuring integration across all phases of the project life cycle — engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup. With a focus on governance, predictability, and value creation, this role is key in decision-making, risk mitigation, and ensuring deliveries aligned with client expectations and business objectives.
Planning and Structuring
Develop and maintain integrated implementation schedules (Levels 1 to 4), covering engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up.
Establish baselines, identify critical paths, strategic milestones, and ensure logical consistency in activity sequencing.
Schedule Control
Continuously monitor actual vs. planned physical progress.
Prepare S-curves, performance reports (SPI, CPI), variance analysis, and propose recovery plans (rebaseline, acceleration).
Integrate schedules with cash flow and financial forecasts.
Risk and Change Management
Identify schedule risks, propose, and follow up on mitigation plans.
Manage change orders integrated into the schedule, ensuring traceability and impact assessment.
Interface and Communication
Act as a liaison between internal stakeholders (engineering, procurement, construction, operations) and external parties (client, contractors, EPC/EPCM).
Prepare executive reports, dashboards, and presentations for PMOs, senior management, and clients.
Support the Project Manager in high-level meetings, translating technical data into strategic insights.
Governance and Standardization
Define quality criteria and consistency checklists for schedules.
Standardize templates, tools, and performance indicators (KPIs).
Conduct reviews and audits of internal and contractors’ schedules.
Execution Support (EPCM)
Monitor field implementation, capturing constraints, productivity deviations, and impacts on planning (when applicable).
Support planning of procurement, logistics, and long lead items.
Ensure traceability of impacts from critical events on schedule.
Technical Leadership
Mentor and train junior planners and support teams.
Assist management in defining resource and project priorities.
Promote a culture of excellence in planning within the organization.
About you:
Advanced proficiency in planning software (Primavera P6, MS Project).
Experience in developing schedules of different levels (1 to 4) and baseline management.
Knowledge in time–cost–physical integration (EVM, S-curves, cash flow).
Experience in large-scale capital projects (mining, oil & gas, energy, infrastructure, industry).
Knowledge of contracting strategies (EPC, EPCM, LSTK, reimbursable).
Familiarity with schedule and cost risk analysis (Monte Carlo, sensitivity).
Skilled in executive reporting and integration with ERP (SAP, Oracle).
Advanced Excel, Power BI, and data analysis tools.
Familiarity with standards, methodologies, and frameworks: PMBOK, AACE, FEL, NI 43-101, SEC S-K 1300.
