Our Minerals and Metals team in Vancouver is growing! We are currently recruiting for a Structural EIT to join our team.

About the Role

  • Prepare cost effective structural engineering designs from conceptual design to detail design, tender and construction in accordance with Canadian Codes and Standards, working under supervision of senior structural engineer.
  • Perform analysis and design of steel structures and concrete foundations for industrial and mining projects.
  • Perform site visits and inspect existing structures. Perform evaluation and analysis of existing structures for modifications and additions, and propose reinforcement solutions.
  • Prepare material take-off of steel and concrete.
  • Complete tasks under minimal supervision ensuring that objectives of cost, quality and time are met.
  • Be able to work directly with engineering and drafting staff in order to produce detailed drawing packages.
  • Liaise with client representatives and general contractors directly.

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural engineering from a recognized University. (Master’s degree would be considered an asset).
  • 2-4 years of structural engineering experience with an engineering consulting firm.
  • Registration as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) with EGBC.
  • Knowledge in design of steel structures, reinforced concrete structures, and various types of concrete foundations for buildings and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and as part of a multidisciplinary group.
  • Familiarity in structural engineering design software such as STAAD.Pro, MathCAD and Microsoft Office products.  Experience with AutoCAD, NavisWorks and Smart Plant would be considered an asset.
  • Good communication skills including report and proposal writing are essential

Salary range: $75,000-$85,000  annually.

 

Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
