We are looking for a Biologist to be part of high-performing team supporting large and small projects. This position will report to our Burnaby office.

This is a casual role expected to run from March to August 2026, supporting a number of exciting upcoming projects — with the potential for extension!

About the role:

  • Conducting biophysical site assessments, including various bird, amphibian, reptile, and/or bat surveys related to accepted sensitive species survey guidelines
  • Working remotely, sometimes for extended periods on projects under the guidance of senior staff and other biologists
  • Implementing Ausenco processes and approaches (e.g., project management, quality program) to ensure that schedule, cost and quality objectives for project deliverables are achieved
  • Developing environmental assessment reports, including drafting and editing text
  • Working in accordance with environmental compliance and industry best management practices and mitigation measures related to construction projects
  • Writing permit applications and permitting strategies

About you:

  • A university degree in natural sciences or resource management
  • Three to five years (or more) of relevant professional experience
  • A professional designation such as P.Biol, RPBio or BIT (or the eligibility to obtain)
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, particularly technical writing
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal environmental legislation gained through formal studies or practical experience
  • A willingness to learn and innovate
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team
  • A valid driver’s license

Bonus Points:

  • A master’s degree
  • Experience with a wide range of environmental disciplines (e.g., air quality, noise, surface and groundwater quality, wetlands, vegetation, wildlife, fish and fish habitat, socioeconomics)  
  • Familiarity with BC’s terrestrial and coastal ecosystems and species
  • A background knowledge or previous experience with construction
  • Experience working directly with clients or developing proposals

Salary range: $33 – $43 hourly

Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
