You'll play a key role in critical project phases, from Basic Engineering and Detailed Engineering to Construction, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of commodities. We are currently seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Engineering Quality Manager to be based in the Toronto or Burlington office. If you’re the right person for the job, we are open to discussing you being located in another office location.

About the role

  • Assure compliance to Ausenco standard procedures through the implementation of a scheduled audit program, including utilization of Ausenco personnel as quality auditors.
  • Implement a quality assurance system for project deliverables through the development of quality control activities such as:
    • Quality plans
    • Vendor/supplier/contractor prequalification
    • Quality audits
    • Inspection and Test Plan - ITPs
    • Material and equipment control
    • Welding process control
    • Erection/installation process control
  • Seek clarification with engineering on any technical issues/queries or NCRs and resolution of same as they arise on projects.
  • Provide quality assurance of vendor/supplier deliverables by implementing and maintaining a quality assurance and monitoring system for each project, including the management of independent inspection agencies where appropriate.
  • Provide occasional hands-on project support when required for brief periods.
  • Preparation of monthly project quality report and collation of statistics on NCRs, audits and other quality-related KPIs.
  • Investigate deviations from globally accepted best practice and implement systematic changes to improve internal systems.
  • Develop training material and facilitate coaching sessions to improve quality of project deliverables and efficiency of project management systems.
  • Work in accordance with Ausenco’s values and demonstrate commitment, active involvement and leadership regarding safety, sustainability, client, people and financial accountabilities.
  • Use and support the maintenance of engineering standards across projects and studies by identifying and implementing best practice and holding the team to account for quality.
  • Effectively apply Ausenco methodology and enforce project and relevant business management (or quality) standards.

About you

  • Engineering degree from a recognized engineering program.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant industry experience (i.e. mining, energy or infrastructure).
  • Quality Assurance Accreditation.
  • Understanding of quality control requirements in a diverse engineering environment.
  • Previous experience in a quality system based on ISO 9001.
  • Previous experience with project and site-based quality roles, including Project Quality Management, vendor qualification, inspection and/or site QC.
  • Previous experience as an internal quality auditor.
  • Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills; will be self-motivated, quick to deliver on projects.
  • Team management/leadership experience, preferably as leader of a team of QA/QC professionals.
