As a result of business growth, we are seeking a talented Finance Analyst to join our expanding team in Brisbane. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this critical role will assist the Finance Manager to provide business leaders with the necessary financial advice, analysis, management reporting and planning/forecast information to support business decision making across the business line.

This role provides management and employees with information on the actual and forecast financial and operational performance of the business line. The role identifies reasons for significant variations, undertakes analysis, recommends strategies to improve business effectiveness, and facilitates decision-making. You will also assist with the business plan/budget process for the business line (projects and operational areas).

About the role 

  • Support effective decision‑making by preparing accurate and timely responses to ad‑hoc financial information requests.
  • Assist the Finance Manager in analysing financial data to identify variances, trends, and insights that inform business decisions.
  • Provide financial analysis and supporting information for tender submissions as required.
  • Produce monthly management reporting packs, ensuring all information is accurate, complete, and delivered on time to the Management Team.
  • Coordinate and support the annual and quarterly budgeting and forecasting processes, including communication with Business Lines and accurate input into financial systems.
  • Prepare, review, and analyse AR, WIP, DSO, reimbursability, and other key financial metrics on a weekly basis, along with ad‑hoc reporting as needed.
  • Partner with project teams to ensure financial performance, profitability, and key project metrics are achieved.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Business Services team to ensure accurate processing of transactional accounting, including AR, AP, payroll, timekeeping, and related activities.
  • Complete month‑end responsibilities, including posting journals, P&L analysis, reporting, and preparing cashflow forecasts.
  • Support the preparation and analysis of budgets and forecasts, including key metrics, financial modelling, and the development of reports and presentations.
  • Review and analyse project financials with a strong focus on performance indicators and commercial outcomes.
  • Work closely with the Finance Manager to deliver team objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide support to operational teams by responding to financial queries and offering clear, actionable insights.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting, efficiency, and accuracy.

About you 

  • Tertiary qualifications in finance or accounting, with CA or CPA certification highly regarded.
  • Experience within the engineering or mining/resources sector will be viewed favourably.
  • Proven experience in financial or business analysis, including business planning, costings, budgeting, financial reporting, and working with financial models and systems.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems.
  • Well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong problem‑solving capabilities and lateral thinking skills to support the development of improved business solutions.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
