Our team in Brazil is growing, we are currently recruiting for a Geochemical Engineer, Intermediate to join our Consulting Business line in the in Belo Horizonte - MG office.
About the role:
- Compile, organize, and interpret geochemical and hydrochemical data (acid drainage generation potential and metals);
- Experience in developing geochemical sampling plans for mining projects (waste rock, tailings, and related materials);
- Experience in evaluating and defining sampling points for the selection of representative lithologies and materials in geochemical studies (waste rock, tailings, water, soil, etc.);
- Plan and monitor environmental sampling campaigns (leaching, solubilization, water quality, etc.);
- Interpret geochemical analysis results, including short-, medium-, and long-term recommendations;
- Apply statistical methods for data processing and evaluation;
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in the assessment of environmental liabilities and the characterization of tailings, waste rock, and other residues;
- Identify and describe environmental aspects and impacts in accordance with technical standards and legal requirements;
- Conduct technical site visits;
- Prepare technical reports and technical memorandums for clients and environmental agencies;
- Maintain communication with clients to obtain project data and information;
- Participate in meetings with clients and internal teams;
- Support the preparation of technical and commercial proposals;
- Develop Geochemical Background/Baseline studies (soil, water, and sediment).
About you:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or related fields;
- Experience in environmental geochemistry and/or hydrogeochemistry projects;
- Experience interpreting environmental analytical data;
- Background in environmental sampling and field activities;
- Experience with data analysis and processing tools (Excel and statistical software);
- Knowledge of standards and methodologies for geochemical testing (ABNT, EPA, ISO, and related Brazilian and international standards);
- Knowledge of geochemical modeling software (Phreeqc or similar software);
- Advanced English.
Desired Qualifications:
- Evaluate water quality and effluent data from a hydrogeochemical perspective;
- Provide technical support for effluent treatment studies and projects;
- Participate, when applicable, in the monitoring of tests and laboratory analyses;
- Knowledge of technologies for the removal of metals and inorganic parameters.
- Experience in effluent treatment or water quality projects;
- Background in mining or industrial projects;
- Knowledge of metal removal through physicochemical processes;
- Postgraduate degree in Geochemistry, Environmental Hydrogeochemistry, or related fields;
- Intermediate Spanish.
