Our team is growing. We are currently recruiting for a Junior/Intermediate Electrical Designer to join our team in the Burnaby office. We are seeking an Electrical Junior to Intermediate Designer to support a variety of industrial, utility, and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, designers, and drafters to develop electrical designs and project deliverables while gaining exposure to field work and multidisciplinary project teams.

 

About the Role

 

  • Assist with the design and development of electrical projects, including:
    • Equipment layouts
    • Lighting systems and layouts
    • Grounding and bonding layouts
    • Single-line diagrams
    • Panel schedules
    • Cable schedules
    • Equipment schedules
  • Prepare and maintain electrical drawings and design documentation.
  • Perform drafting activities using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other project software as required.
  • Conduct site visits to gather field information and review existing equipment at local and remote project locations.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and drafters on a variety of project tasks.
  • Liaise with engineers and senior designers to obtain project direction, design requirements, and technical feedback.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with applicable company quality management systems, procedures, and industry standards.

 

About You

 

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related discipline.
  • C.Tech. designation or eligibility to obtain designation is preferred.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of relevant electrical design and drafting experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

 

Assets

 

  • Experience with industrial, mining, utility, or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working on BC Hydro projects or familiarity with BC Hydro standards.
  • Experience with 3D scanning technologies and point cloud data.
  • Experience with 3D modeling software.
  • Field experience supporting electrical design projects.

Salary range: $65,000-$85,000  annually.

 

Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
