Our Brisbane team continues to grow, and we are currently recruiting for a Lead Process Engineer to join our high performing QLD Process Team and play a key role in delivering projects across Australia and internationally.

As a Lead Process Engineer based in Ausenco’s Brisbane Office, you will provide technical leadership and process engineering expertise across a diverse portfolio of studies and projects.

About the role

  • Lead study and project teams to ensure Process Engineering design and documentation are consistent with project scope, schedule and objectives
  • Provide peer review and technical assurance of agreed process deliverables
  • Collaborate closely with multi-discipline teams across Brisbane and the wider global Ausenco network to ensure overall project success
  • Provide process engineering and mineral processing expertise across all engineering phases, including conceptual studies, front-end engineering, and detailed design
  • Build and maintain strong connections across Ausenco globally to leverage specialist capability and best practice
  • Contribute to cost-efficient and innovative plant designs by applying new technologies and benchmarking layouts against industry best practice
  • Ensure proposed technical solutions are fit for purpose and deliver optimal outcomes for clients and projects
  • Work within study and project teams to meet scope, quality, schedule and budget objectives
  • Develop and contribute to key deliverables such as Process Design Criteria (PDC), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs), control philosophies and control tables, equipment sizing, heat and mass balances, process models, trade-off studies, operating cost estimates and high-level financial models
  • Supervise, mentor and support Process Engineers and Graduates, contributing to capability development within the Brisbane office

About you

You will bring strong technical depth, leadership capability and a collaborative mindset, along with:

  • Degree qualification in Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing, Extractive Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in the mineral processing industry, including time spent at Senior and/or Lead Engineer level
  • RPEQ or willing to work towards accreditation.
  • Experience gained within consulting, EPCM delivery, or on the owner’s side through studies and project execution
  • Operational experience at mines, mineral processing or metallurgical facilities, including plant optimisation and improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience in mill, concentrator and/or metallurgical plant design, particularly for base and precious metals
  • Solid understanding of engineering workflows, industry standards, codes and process-related engineering software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop sound technical solutions
  • Experience writing technical proposals (advantageous)
  • Exposure to plant commissioning and/or production ramp-up (advantageous)
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively and work across multiple projects simultaneously
