We are currently looking for a Lead Structural Designer to join our team in Vancouver as a result of business growth.  

This role would suit someone with strong mining and minerals background and a demonstrated background in the design process, Structural Steel & Concrete design, Checking, co-ordination of work with other design disciplines and the efficient management and delivery of projects within budget and quality constraints.  The purpose of this position is to work on design and perform 3D layout to support the Design Area Lead or Lead.

 

About the role

  • Prepare Concrete and Steel 3D models and drawings according to project timeframes and standards by coordinating with other project members
  • Interpreting complex drawings that incorporate interfacing Civil, Structural and Architectural design requirements with piping, mechanical, electrical disciplines
  • Liaise with engineers and Project Managers for direction, specifications and feedback
  • Prepare MTO’s.
  • Maintain consistent design drafting standards across projects by communicating expectations and holding project members to account for standards
  • Direct, supervise and check the work of other structural designers
  • Train and motivate other designers
  • Participate in model reviews with project team and clients

 

About you

  • A minimum of 12 years' experience in Concrete and Steel design, preferably in the resources sector
  • Recent experience as a Lead Designer is preferred
  • Experience in layout and detailing of structural steel and reinforced concrete 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of multi-functional project teams is a must
  • Experience in Structural, Concrete and Platework design plant layout with crushing, grinding, materials handling, flotation, CIL/CIP, slurry, pumping, slurry agitation, particle size classification and separation would be highly regarded   
  • Advance diploma or equivalent in Engineering is desirable.  
  • Experience with 3D design software desired, knowledge of Smart Plant3D will be highly regarded

Salary Range: $120K - $140K

 

Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
