Our global realm is growing; we are currently recruiting for a Marine Structural Engineer to join our Marine and Coastal Group.  The role is ideally based in our Burnaby office but for the right person we may have flexibility on the location.

About the opportunity:

In this role you will have the opportunity to support the planning, design, and delivery of port, coastal, and marine infrastructure projects. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you’ll gain hands-on experience across all stages of design and construction, contributing to a variety of inspection, repair, and new build projects.

About the role:

  • Assist with the design and development of marine and port structures, including wharves, jetties, piers, and coastal protection works.
  • Support senior engineers through all project phases — concept, preliminary, and detailed design.
  • Prepare technical deliverables such as drawings, design calculations, reports, and specifications.
  • Participate in site inspections, condition assessments, and construction support activities.
  • Collaborate with engineers, drafters, and other disciplines to deliver coordinated project outputs.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Contribute to proposal preparation, cost estimates, and other project documentation as required.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Occasional travel to project sites may be required.

 

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Ideally 2–5 years of relevant experience in the design or assessment of marine, coastal, or port infrastructure.
  • Eligible for Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration
  • Familiarity with structural analysis and design software (e.g., STAAD, SAP2000, or similar).
  • Familiarity with the MS Office environment particularly Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Understanding of applicable design codes and standards.
  • Some exposure to construction or site work in marine environments would be an asset.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Organized, proactive, and eager to learn from senior engineers.
  • Interest in developing long-term expertise in marine and port engineering.
  • Additional languages (French, Spanish, or Portuguese) are also an asset.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000 annually

Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
