We are seeking a MECHANICAL LAYOUT DESIGNER to support our Mining & Metals team. In this role, you will develop and coordinate high-quality mechanical design deliverables for mining projects while supporting, client engagement, and technical excellence. You will contribute throughout the project lifecycle and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions.

About the Role

• Prepare 2D drawings and 3D models for mechanical and general arrangement layouts for mining projects, including concentrator plants, material handling systems, processing facilities, and large-scale industrial installations.
• Develop and maintain 3D models, equipment layouts, and detailed drawings using industry-standard software such as SmartPlant, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and Autodesk Advance Steel.
• Work closely with Process, Mechanical, Structural, Civil, Electrical, and Instrumentation engineering teams to ensure integrated, accurate, and efficient project designs.
• Review and validate 3D models and engineering drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements, perform technical quality audits, and maintain design integrity and consistency.
• Support the planning and management of project budgets, work plans, schedules, and deliverables related to general arrangement design activities.
• Coordinate with client representatives, participate in proposal preparation activities, provide technical input, and support the review and delivery of project documentation and design packages.

About You

• Diploma, technical certification, or university degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Architecture, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience in the design and development of general arrangement layouts for large-scale industrial projects, preferably within the mining, mineral processing, or heavy industrial sectors.
• Experience with HEXAGON SmartPlant (preferred) or similar design platforms, including AutoCAD, AutoPLANT 3D, and Revit.
• Prepare engineering drawings and technical documentation in accordance with project design requirements, applicable regulations, industry codes, standards, and best practices.
• Maintain consistent drafting and design standards across all project disciplines by clearly communicating expectations, promoting best practices, and ensuring compliance throughout the project team.
• Facilitate and support effective coordination among engineering disciplines during the development and review of 3D models, ensuring design integration and project objectives are achieved.
