Our team in Chile is growing, and we are currently seeking a Process Engineer, Principal (hydrometallurgical plants).

As a Principal Process Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and leadership of process engineering for concentrator plant projects, actively contributing across different stages of the project lifecycle.

About the rol:

  • Lead the development of process engineering solutions, from conceptual stages through detailed design, ensuring technical quality and alignment with project objectives.
  • Define design criteria, select processing technologies, and develop process configurations focused on operational efficiency and sustainability.
  • Oversee and validate key discipline deliverables, ensuring compliance with standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate process engineering into the overall project development.
  • Contribute to technical and economic evaluations, supporting decision-making by considering performance, risks, and optimization opportunities.
  • Lead and mentor the process team, fostering technical development and excellence in execution.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the mining industry, ideally in copper.
  • Proven experience in hydrometallurgical projects, including plant design and participation in engineering stages (conceptual, basic, and/or detailed engineering).
  • Strong knowledge of copper leaching processes, covering the full chain from dry area to cathode production (crushing, agglomeration, leaching, SX-EW).
  • Experience in operation and design of hydrometallurgical plants.
  • Knowledge in the design, planning, and interpretation of leaching testwork.
  • Understanding of the main leaching technologies and configurations (heaps, dumps, etc.).
  • Experience in gold or other metals leaching is desirable.
  • Ability to interpret mineralogical characteristics and their impact on metallurgical performance.
  • Skill in identifying process optimization opportunities.
  • Knowledge in the development of technical proposals and evaluation of alternatives.
  • Experience interacting with internal and external stakeholders, including technical support and presentations.
  • Strong motivation for continuous learning and adoption of new technologies or work methodologies.
  • Leadership skills, teamwork, and effective communication.
