Our team in Canada is growing. We are currently recruiting for a Project Manager, Sustainability to join our Global Consulting business.

 

About The Role


We’re looking for a progressive-thinking and experienced Project Manager to join our Sustainability Specialty Practice. This role reports directly to the Lead of the Sustainability Practice and will collaborate with our clients in the resources industries by providing innovative sustainability solutions, strategies and programs.


The Project Manager, Sustainability is a newly created role in our Sustainability practice and will help take our growing business to the next level in our global operations.

The Project Manager, Sustainability plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality sustainability projects across Ausenco’s global operations. This role blends strategic advisory with execution oversight, ensuring projects meet evolving sustainability expectations, align with client commitments, and contribute to long-term value creation. The position is responsible for managing multidisciplinary sustainability engagements, integrating social, environmental, and governance aspects across project phases, and collaborating closely with engineering, project delivery, and business development teams.

In support of our strategy, the Project Manager in Sustainability will primarily focus on:

  • Leading the execution of sustainability consulting projects, including strategy development, sustainability reporting, assurance, climate risk analysis, and sustainability assessments.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while meeting regulatory and client-specific requirements (e.g., TCFD, IFC, TNFD, ICMM, ISO).
  • Overseeing sustainability metrics implementation in capital projects to embed sustainability risk management across construction and operations.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by translating sustainability ambitions into actionable project plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Conducting client-facing presentations, facilitating stakeholder workshops, and managing ongoing communication with client teams and third parties (regulators, lenders, Indigenous partners).
  • Contributing to proposal development, scoping, and client engagement strategies.
  • Coordinating cross-functional teams of technical experts, including sustainability, environmental and engineering practitioners.
  • Fostering collaboration across Ausenco’s business lines to integrate sustainability into design and execution phases.
  • Providing technical advice within project teams as an internal consultant or directly to clients on complex sustainability issues
  • Ensuring client satisfaction by identifying issues, understanding business drivers and ensuring the delivery of quality work
  • Building and fostering a strong reputation in the marketplace as an ESG subject matter expert to maintain and enhance revenue opportunities with new and existing clients and through internal cross-selling
  • Maintaining industry/professional knowledge and actively participating in the ongoing upgrading of professional skills and knowledge to ensure Ausenco remains ahead of the marketplace in terms of expertise.
  • Promoting and maintaining a positive and inclusive environment by living Ausenco’s values and through cooperation within the office, region and across other areas of the organization.

 

This position is a full-time, regular position and will be based in either our Vancouver, Burnaby, Calgary, Toronto or Burlington offices. Business travel may be required given the scope of the role.


About You


You are an experienced management consultant looking for your next challenge and can offer the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing sustainability, ESG, or climate-related projects in infrastructure, mining, or engineering consulting.
  • Graduate degree in science, engineering or business
  • Proven experience delivering consulting services in one or more of the following: sustainability reporting and strategy, stakeholder engagement, climate risk, assurance/audit, social performance, sustainable supply chains.
  • Proven experience in project management and manage multi-stakeholder projects and multidisciplinary teams, including budgeting and resource planning.
  • Good commercial sense and experience expanding and developing business with new and existing clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to create and deliver persuasive presentations and proposal writing.
  • Understanding of global standards and frameworks such as TCFD, TNFD, GRI, IFC, ISO 14001/45001/31000, Equator Principles.
  • Collaboration and interpersonal effectiveness in multicultural and cross-functional environments.
  • Experience working in mining and other resource sectors is highly valued.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities or local partners is highly valued.
  • Spanish and/or French language skills an asset.

Salary range: $130,000 - $180,000 annually

Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
