Our team is growing, we are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Engineer to join our team in our Newcastle office, an immediate start is available

 

 About the role 

  • Work closely with Project Managers, technical leads, and client stakeholders to effectively manage office or onsite activities to ensure engineering work is delivered safely, on schedule, within scope and budget, to the required quality and in accordance with Ausenco’s objectives.
  • Develop and maintain deliverable lists aligned with project scope, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Maintain project performance dashboards, including earned value management (EVM), KPIs, schedule performance, and cost tracking.
  • Monitor engineering progress against baselines and identify emerging issues or risks.
  • Support forecasting, change management, and reporting of cost and schedule variances.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly project reports for internal and client stakeholders.
  • Consolidate engineering status updates into clear, data-driven reporting packs.
  • Present performance insights, trends, and recommendations to the project leadership team
  • Lead coordination across engineering disciplines to ensure alignment of design deliverables, interfaces, and schedules.
  • Capture and distribute accurate meeting minutes, actions, and decisions for internal and external project meetings, and ensure owners are progressing tasks to closure
  • Maintain key project registers
  • Manage subcontractors to ensure scope of work delivery within schedule and budget
  • Proactively review existing engineering and project delivery processes and procedures, identifying opportunities to improve alignment with project needs, industry best practice, and operational efficiency.
  • Define, plan, and manage engineering work packages, including scopes, deliverables, budgets, interfaces, and acceptance criteria.
  • Support resource planning, task allocation, and monitoring of team performance
  • Maintain a professional and functional relationship with internal stakeholders and client personnel.

 

About you 

  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Civil) from a recognised tertiary institute or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 12 years of experience working in mining and minerals studies and/or projects, 
  • Demonstrated experience in a consultancy or major project environment
  • Technically strong, organised, and collaborative professional who can lead multidisciplinary engineering activities while driving effective project performance
  • EPCM/EPC experience including supervision of contractors and field personnel will be looked upon favourably 
  • Previous experience in process plants and mining projects in operations or construction is preferred
  • Substantial exposure to project controls, scheduling, planning, cost control, estimating and reporting.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Power BI, Excel, document control systems
  • Outstanding communication skill and ability to develop rapport with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong safety focus with demonstrated evidence of actively promoting and sustaining a Zero harm environment
