We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused SMP Coordinator/Specialist to join our site construction team on a major minerals processing plant construction project. This role is responsible for coordinating Structural, Mechanical, and Piping (SMP) construction activities to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution. This is a hands-on, rotational site-based rotational role at a Northern BC mine-site on a 2-week on, 2-week off rotation with 2 site travel days. The successful candidate will join an EPCM site team, overseeing the green-field construction of a mining processing facility

About the Role

• Coordinate daily SMP construction activities across structural steel, mechanical installation, and piping scopes.
• Support the SMP Superintendent in delivering works safely, on schedule, and to required quality standards.
• Monitor contractor performance, productivity, and compliance with project requirements.
• Ensure work fronts are prepared and available to support planned construction activities.
• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all site activities.
• Participate in daily pre-starts, toolbox meetings, safety walks, and risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with site HSE procedures, permit-to-work systems, and isolation requirements.
• Identify and address field execution issues, construction clashes, and productivity constraints.
• Coordinate interfaces between SMP, civil, electrical, commissioning, and operations teams.
• Review construction drawings, work packs, specifications, and installation methodologies.
• Support QA/QC inspections, punch listing, testing activities, and turnover documentation.
• Track and report construction progress, delays, and emerging risks to the SMP Superintendent.
• Assist with planning, sequencing, and prioritisation of construction activities.
• Maintain accurate daily reports and site records.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company standards, client requirements, and statutory regulations.

About You

• Trade qualification or tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• 4-8 years’ experience in SMP construction within mining, minerals processing, or heavy industrial projects.
• Previous site-based experience coordinating SMP works on large-scale resource projects.
• Strong understanding of structural, mechanical, and piping installation methodologies.
• Demonstrated experience working within FIFO/DIDO or remote construction environments.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, and technical specifications.
• Strong contractor coordination and field leadership capability.
• Good understanding of construction QA/QC requirements and turnover processes.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.

Salary Range: $95-$125K

10% site uplift will be included on top of base salary while on site rotation.
