You'll play a key role in critical project phases, from Basic Engineering and Detailed Engineering to Construction, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of commodities. The Design QA/QC Manager is responsible for establishing, implementing, and enforcing quality assurance and quality control standards across all engineering and design deliverables. This role ensures the accuracy, consistency, and constructability of 2D drawings and 3D models, while leading continuous improvement of drafting and modelling practices across the organization.

The position works closely with engineering, drafting, 3D modeling, and project management teams to ensure deliverables and other design outputs meet internal standards, client requirements, and applicable codes and regulations.

About the role

  • Develop, maintain, and enforce QA/QC standards, procedures, and checklists for engineering, 2D drafting and 3D modeling deliverables.
  • Review engineering deliverables, drawings and models for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with project and company standards.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant standards and specifications.
  • Identify recurring quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Establish and maintain drafting and modeling standards (layering, naming, symbology, annotations, families/blocks, templates).
  • Ensure version control, document control, and proper use of model/drawing/document revisions.
  • Lead and mentor team members on quality expectations and best practices.
  • Perform QA/QC audits and provide constructive feedback to engineering and design teams.
  • Support onboarding and training related to drafting and modelling quality.
  • Oversee proper use of CAD tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership on workflow optimization and design automation initiatives.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, accuracy, and standardization.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Engineering Managers to align quality expectations with project schedules.
  • Support internal and external audits related to engineering and design quality.
  • Act as the focal point for design-related quality issues raised by clients or internal stakeholders.

About you

  • 15+ years of experience in engineering design, drafting, or modeling roles.
  • Strong expertise in both 2D drafting and 3D modeling workflows.
  • In-depth knowledge of Hexagon Smart plant tools.
  • Proven experience developing and enforcing engineering design standards.
  • Expert-level understanding of CAD standards.
  • Strong knowledge of drawing/model review processes.
  • Familiarity with model coordination, clash detection, and data integrity principles.
  • Understanding of applicable engineering codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in document management and revision control best practices.

Salary range: $125,000 - $160,000 annually

Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
