Delivering innovative, value-add consulting, project delivery, asset operations and maintenance solutions is what we do. From 21 offices in 9 countries, with projects in over 80 locations worldwide, we create sustainable outcomes for our people, clients and communities.
If you are a senior professional engineer or scientist with strong leadership experience—alongside deep expertise in environmental management, contaminated site investigation and remediation, risk assessment, or environmental engineering design—we want to hear from you.
The Director, Site Assessment and Remediation (SAR) is a key role for Ausenco, with significant influence over how we implement our strategic planning for the SAR business to meet financial and growth goals for Canada. You’ll have responsibility for people leadership and resource management, safety and quality, execution of projects, client service, employee experience (career development, job satisfaction, and moral) and achievement of the financial performance of the SAR business. You will work closely with other regional and national leaders and internal experts within Ausenco and other project stakeholders to lead the delivery of current projects and to develop new opportunities for the region.
The role may be based on any of our Canadian offices (Burnaby, Victoria, Burlington, Calgary or Whitehorse), but you may be required to travel for short periods of time. If you’re the right person for the job, we are open to discussing possible remote working arrangements.
This is an 18‑month interim role, with the possibility of extension or transition to a permanent role.
About the role:
- Managing and expanding the SAR business throughout Canada, including strategic business planning.
- Managing the Business Line’s financial objectives and results, identifying and resolving issues, and actively managing the financial results to achieve budget.

- Planning for current and future workforce resourcing needs by understanding required skills and knowledge of current and future roles, identifying successors, and executing processes and programs to recruit, develop and retain talent.
- Motivating and leading the team to deliver exceptional service and quality projects to clients.
- Developing project proposals and leading the client development process through marketing plans and strategies.
- Maintaining and growing your industry and professional knowledge and leadership skills to ensure Ausenco remains ahead of the marketplace.
- Seeking out and acquiring new business opportunities and acting to identify opportunities to expand the scope of existing projects.
- Building, maintaining and expanding strong relationships with clients, regulating agencies, and municipalities to facilitate successful delivery of projects and the maintenance of future/ongoing opportunities.
- Promoting and maintaining a positive work environment through a culture of teamwork and cooperation within the office, region, and between other areas of the organization.
- Coordinate closely with other senior company practitioners globally to ensure consistency in staff management and advancement, work implementation, marketing and client development, and consistency with company business goals and needs.
About you:
