Experienced / Senior Pipeline Designer – Slurry & Water Infrastructure

Ausenco is a fast-growing company with big ideas. We redefine what’s possible in some of the world’s most complex projects and toughest environments. Delivering innovative, value-add consulting, project delivery, asset operations and maintenance solutions is what we do. From 21 offices in 9 countries, with projects in over 80 locations worldwide, we create sustainable outcomes for our people, clients and communities.

Our team is growing; we are currently recruiting for an Experienced / Senior Pipeline Designer to join our specialist pipeline engineering team, preferably based in our Brisbane office, with Perth also considered.

This is an opportunity to join a highly experienced team specialising in slurry transportation systems and associated mining infrastructure. You will contribute to a diverse range of projects across Australia and internationally, including long-distance slurry pipelines, tailings systems, borefields and water supply infrastructure.

About the role

  • Undertake pipeline design and drafting activities for mining and resources projects, from concept and feasibility studies through to detailed design and execution.
  • Develop pipeline alignments, horizontal and vertical profiles, general arrangements and detailed design deliverables for slurry, tailings and water pipeline systems.
  • Prepare pipeline layouts, earthworks designs, corridor arrangements and associated civil infrastructure drawings.
  • Utilise 12d Model, AutoCAD Civil 3D and other relevant design software to develop and manage 3D design models and drawings.
  • Work with survey, terrain and GIS data to develop practical pipeline alignments and design solutions.
  • Collaborate with pipeline engineers and multidisciplinary project teams to develop efficient, practical and constructible designs.
  • Coordinate design interfaces with civil, mechanical, geotechnical and other engineering disciplines.
  • Contribute to design reviews, quality assurance and the development of project design standards and deliverables.
  • Support project planning, design hour estimates and the delivery of design packages within agreed budgets and schedules.
  • For senior candidates, provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior designers and contribute to the development of team capabilities and design workflows.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience in pipeline and/or civil infrastructure design and drafting, preferably within engineering consulting or EPC/EPCM environments.
  • Proficiency in 12d Model and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D is highly desirable.
  • Experience developing pipeline alignments, profiles, layouts and associated civil design deliverables.
  • Previous experience with slurry pipelines, tailings systems, borefields and/or water pipelines will be highly regarded.
  • Experience working with 3D design environments, terrain models, survey information, GIS data and coordinate systems.
  • Understanding of pipeline design principles, constructability considerations and relevant engineering standards.
  • Experience in mining, mineral processing or associated resources infrastructure projects is desirable.
  • Relevant technical design, drafting or engineering qualification, or equivalent practical industry experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach to delivering quality design outcomes.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Proven ability to manage assigned workloads and deliver design outputs within project budget and schedule constraints.
  • For senior applicants, demonstrated experience coordinating design deliverables and supporting less experienced team members will be advantageous.
