As the Legal Counsel, you will join our inhouse regional legal team to support the APAC Africa team by providing timely and high‑quality legal advice across bids, proposals, contract development, and corporate initiatives. You will work closely with BD teams, Project Managers, and global Legal colleagues to ensure our contractual, commercial, and compliance obligations are met.

This role is a key contributor to the effective coordination, development, and improvement of legal processes across the region. This role is based in our South Bank office.

About the role

  • Provide legal input into Bid/No Bid decisions and proposal meetings.
  • Review client documents, proposal schedules, and contracts including NDAs and service agreements.
  • Prepare recommended departures aligned with Ausenco’s standard terms.
  • Draft and review client and sub-consultancy agreements under supervision.
  • Prepare transaction approval forms and associated contract documentation such as variations and deeds.
  • Assist with risk assessments, approval workflows, and execution processes.
  • Manage version control and distribution of commercial templates, standard agreements, and other legal materials.
  • Liaise with brokers regarding insurance aspects of client contracts.
  • Conduct project start-up health checks to ensure compliance and timely first invoice payments.
  • Assist on global M&A activities under the direction of the General Counsel.
  • Support corporate functions (Finance, Tax, IT) with legal review and guidance.
  • Participate in global process improvement initiatives.
  • Share knowledge, contribute clauses and resources, and participate in training.
  • Collaborate with APAC offices and travel as required.

 

About you

  • 2–4 years’ experience in commercial, contractual, or project administration roles (or equivalent legal/commercial experience).
  • Relevant qualifications in law, business, or a related commercial field.
  • Strong problem‑solving ability and a proactive approach to delivering results.
  • Ability to build sustainable relationships and communicate effectively.
  • Comfortable with change and continuous improvement initiatives.
