We are seeking a Senior HSE Advisor to join our team supporting the COPI MSP Project in Pinkenba, Queensland, with a planned commencement in October 2026 (subject to contract award).

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role on a major Brisbane-based construction project from its early mobilisation phase through to completion. This is a Brownfields project involving major upgrades to the existing plant. Reporting to the Project Leadership Team, you will be responsible for driving health, safety and environmental performance across all stages of project delivery. Working closely with project management, construction personnel and contractors, you will foster a proactive safety culture, support operational excellence and ensure compliance with legislative, client and Ausenco requirements from the very beginning for this project.

The Senior HSE Advisor will support both the early and peak phases of the project and remain engaged through project completion. As construction activity increases, an additional Site HSE Advisor will join the team to support project execution.

About the role 

As the Senior HSE Advisor, you will:

• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of project-specific HSE systems, plans, procedures and initiatives.
• Provide expert HSE guidance and coaching to project leaders, supervisors, employees and contractors.
• Support the development and maintenance of a positive, engaged and proactive safety culture across the project workforce.
• Ensure compliance with Queensland WHS legislation, environmental requirements, client expectations and Ausenco standards.
• Facilitate hazard identification, risk assessments, critical control verification and safe work planning activities.
• Conduct workplace inspections, audits and assurance activities to verify compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Review and monitor contractor HSE performance to agreed plans and authorised systems of work.
• Lead incident notification, investigation and corrective action processes and ensure lessons learned are effectively communicated.
• Monitor project HSE performance metrics and prepare reports for project leadership and key stakeholders.
• Support project mobilisation activities, inductions, training programs and workforce competency requirements.
• Participate in emergency preparedness and response activities.
• Collaborate closely with project teams to deliver project objectives while maintaining a strong commitment to zero harm. 

About you 

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Diploma, Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
• Significant HSE experience within major construction, infrastructure, industrial, energy, mining or resource sector projects.
• Demonstrated experience supporting HSE programs through both mobilisation and major construction phases.
• Strong knowledge and practical application of Australian WHS legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Experience working in contractor-driven project environments with multiple stakeholders.
• Proven ability to influence, coach and engage leaders, supervisors and frontline workforces.
• Experience facilitating incident investigations, audits, inspections and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong understanding of risk management principles and critical risk controls.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organisational, reporting and analytical capabilities.
• A proactive approach, visible leadership style and genuine commitment to creating a safe and healthy workplace.
• Current Queensland Construction Industry White Card and relevant HSE certifications. 

Project Details

• Location: Pinkenba, Brisbane, Queensland
• Roster: 6 days per week
• Hours: 10-hour site days (Monday to Saturday)
• Work Week: Approximately 60 hours
• Project Duration: Approximately 12 to 15 months
• Indicative Start Date: October 2026 (subject to contract award)
• Senior HSE Advisor: October 2026 through to project completion
• Site HSE Advisor Support: Expected to join from April 2027 during the peak construction phase
