You'll play a key role in critical project phases, from Basic Engineering and Detailed Engineering to Construction, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of commodities. We are currently seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Director - Supply Chain to be based in either Toronto, Burlington or the Calgary office. If you’re the right person for the job, we are open to discussing you being located in another office location.

About the role

  • Build a highly competent and effective team of contracts and procurement professionals to successfully execute major projects across North America. Related activities include:
    • Recruitment of personnel.
    • Management and coordination of the consolidated contracts and procurement staffing plan for North America major projects.
    • Personnel development including training and mentoring as well as performance management activities.
    • Input to the development of supply chain standards, processes, procedures and systems.
    • Participation in project reviews and audits.
    • Creation and implementation of regional contracts and procurement strategies that are innovative, cost-effective, and incorporate the growing complexities and challenges within the industry.
    • Leadership of transformational activities to build supply chain organizational capabilities and improve efficiency.
    • Keeping abreast of changing industry trends, including identifying changes and their effect on supply chain activities.
    • Development and maintenance of long-term relationships with critical vendors and contractors.
    • Development and maintenance of relationships with Base Business.
    • Support for regional business development activities.
  • When directly assigned to a project,
    • Develop and implement the Supply Chain Execution/Management Plan including contracts and procurement strategies.
    • Develop the supply chain staffing plan.
    • Manage and coordinate project contract and procurement package formation and administration activities including negotiation of contracts with vendors and contractors.
    • Manage technological systems that track the shipment, inventory and supply of materials.

About You

  • Minimum of 20 years’ experience in supply chain management for the engineering and construction of major projects including procurement, contracts, expediting, supplier quality management and transportation and logistics.
  • Technical software requirements – working knowledge of Smart Materials or equivalent applications.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills will ensure success in this demanding role.
  • Proven ability to manage, motivate and influence employees at all levels.
  • Essential qualifications and/or education.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • International commercial exposure across a range of relevant sectors.
  • Experience in project delivery.
  • Willingness to travel.
