We are looking for a talented Electrical Designer (SmartPlant Experience preferible) — to join our growing team as we prepare for exciting new execution and study projects. Design experience with mineral processing and a background in consulting or EPCM is preferred. 

About the role:

  • Responsible for drafting and 3D modelling electrical systems for mining and industrial projects
  • Experience working within an EPCM environment is preferred.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, applying skills to both new construction and renovation projects for drafting of power distribution, lighting and communication systems.
  • Provide CAD drafting services to design team.
  • Work under the direction of Electrical Engineers and Designers to develop working drawings from conceptual layout to detailed construction document packages for submission in AutoCAD
  • Ability to lead the preparation of drawings and utilization of CAD aided design software for the creation of Electrical design of single line diagrams, motor schematics and wiring, General Arrangement, distribution panels, grounding, lighting, and cable tray.
  • Ability to lead the preparation of drawings and utilization of CAD aided design software for the creation of Instrumentation and Controls design of Loop drawings, PLC and DCS wiring, Panel layout and instrument General Arrangement
  • Ability to create and maintain cable schedule and material take offs
  • Provide support for plotting and sending of electronic file submission
  • Create, document and communicate best practices for Building Information Modeling (BIM), AutoCAD, SmartPlant, and Revit applications
  • Ensure proper documentation of all work, products, and relevant activities
  • Other duties assigned as necessary
  • Provide on-site construction supports as required

About you:

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Design and Drafting Technology from a recognized collage.
  • 8- 12 years’ experience of drafting electrical, controls and instrumentation deliverables in an engineering environment
  • Working experience with SmartPlant is required
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in electrical projects associated with buildings
  • Able to work within defined schedules and deadlines
  • Able to function well, either as part of a team or independently
  • Strong communication, analytical and time management skills
  • Ability to quickly absorb and use company-specific techniques, standards and procedures Microsoft Word and Excel skills
  • Working knowledge of the CEC and CSA Standards.

Salary range: $90,000-$110,000

Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
