You'll play a key role in critical project phases, from Basic Engineering and Detailed Engineering to Construction, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of commodities. We are currently seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Junior Instrumentation Designer to be based in either Burlington or the Calgary office. If you’re the right person for the job, we are open to discussing you being located in another office location.

About the Role

  • Develop and update instrumentation and control system drawings for mineral processing facilities.
  • Prepare and create deliverables including loop drawings, communications network diagrams, instrument location plans, termination drawings, hook-up drawings, plant control system layout drawings, cable tray and conduit routing diagrams, and panel layouts.
  • Develop models, design and drafting using advanced modeling and assembly practices within a 3D solid modeling CAD (SmartPlant) I&C environment.
  • Ensure that all documentation and drawings align with project specifications, industry standards such as ISA, ANSI, CSA, IEC etc.
  • Work under the direction of I & C / Electrical Engineers to develop working drawings from conceptual layout to detailed construction document packages for submission.
  • Use thorough knowledge of electrical codes and standards in everyday design work.
  • Coordinate work with other discipline engineers and designers.
  • Perform defined assignments with independent judgment and a high degree of accuracy while maintaining the consistency of drawings with other departments.

About You

  • Electrical Drafting and Designer diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary EPC/EPCM environment.
  • Familiarity with DCS/PLC systems and industry codes and standards such as NEC, NFPA, NEMA and API STANDARDS.
  • Advanced skills in AutoCAD, 3D Design (Smart Plant 3D preferred), SPI / IN Tools (Smart Plant Instrumentation preferred).
  • Technical competence and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written).
  • Client-facing experience.
