Lead Structural Engineer

We are currently looking for a Lead Structural Engineer to join our team based in our Newcastle office to support recent business success and growth. 

About the role
 

  • Ensure Structural Design Deliverables are completed according to standards, checked, approved, and issued to other disciplines and to the client with revision control documentation.
  • Act in client facing role to lead and coordinate the activities of a project team to ensure time and budget objectives are achieved.
  • Generate and review technical documents and deliverables.
  • Prepare specifications, design criteria, scope of work and material take-off lists.
  • Prepare engineering proposals and monitor budgets, staying within the assigned budget and report any discrepancies.
  • Complete tasks under minimal supervision ensuring that objectives of cost, quality and time are met.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with the Project Manager / Engineering Manager and regularly inform of technical activities, staffing, budgets and schedules and explain reasons for actions taken.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the Structural Engineering Team to deliver and implement best practice technical solutions by applying knowledge of industry developments and from experience.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative solutions

 

About you

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in structural engineering.
  • 10+ years’ proven technical experience with an engineering consulting firm or other large organisation. Construction experience is desirable.
  • Accreditation as a Charter Engineer (or equivalent) or ability to obtain
  • Strong design experience in brownfield environment highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in client facing project management roles, leading design teams to deliver project outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design of steel structures and concrete foundations for industrial and mining projects.
  • Enhanced knowledge of the Engineering ISO, AS, ANSI, API etc. standard design codes.
  • Ability to mentor and support the development of structural engineers within the Ausenco team
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and as part of a multidisciplinary group.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
